Inducted in 1990, Thomas J. Brown, Jr., was the FAA Chief of Flight Inspection Navigation Aids and Instrument Flight Procedures for Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland from 1957 through 1971. He was directly responsible for commissioning and re-certification of facilities, providing better and safer navigational aids, and providing improved routes and instrument flight procedures. He was responsible for the instrument flight procedures developed for all airports in Virginia. Most of the navigational aids developed or installed during this time are still in use today. His work has affected every person--pilot or passenger--who flies today.
