Inducted in 1986, T. Fleetwood Garner’s aviation career started in 1936 when he took flying lessons in Norfolk, VA. Garner, a native Virginian, operated Navy War Training Programs and civilian flight instruction programs during World War II. In 1945, he organized Garner Aviation Service Corporation at a number of Virginia’s airports. His aviation business interests extended throughout the East Coast and involved such enterprises as assisting in the installation of new omni navigation radio stations and the training of Air Force Air Cadets and student officers.
