Spencer V. Rice

Inducted in 1983, Spencer V. Rice became known as the “Virginia Gentleman of the Airlines” for his tireless work in promoting commercial air travel in the Old Dominion during his more than 40 years in aviation. He joined American Airlines in 1939, and after his retirement in 1980, he became sales representative for Henson Airlines in Richmond, Virginia. He was cited by former Governor John N. Dalton for “his enthusiasm and example to others in the business world and in community endeavors.”
