Kenneth W. Medley

Inducted in 1995, Kenneth W. Medley received his pilot certificate in 1940 and has flown more than 56 accident free years, 53 as a flight instructor. He taught aviation cadets in WWII, flew the Hump in the China-Burma-India Theater and became an FAA Pilot Examiner in 1947. He has given thousands of FAA flight checks for all ratings including hundreds of flight instructor flight checks. He became the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association’s (AOPA) first Mid-Atlantic Regional Representative and has conducted more than 750 AOPA Safety Seminars for pilots. Each year he taught many weekend AOPA Air Safety Foundation flight instructor refresher courses and continually served as an FAA Safety Counselor. He was selected “Flight Instructor of the Year” in 1993 and has received numerous other awards in recognition of his dedication and professionalism towards aviation safety and his teaching abilities.
