Ivor Massey

Richmond, Virginia

Inducted in 1980, Ivor Massey learned to fly in 1914. After seeing action as a pilot in WWI, he started an air transport business in Richmond, Va. He served as commander of the Richmond Army Air Base during World War II and was instrumental in creating the Virginia Air National Guard in 1947. He was a member of the Capital Region Airport Commission, which operates Richmond International Airport.
