Henry J. E. Reid, Sr.

Inducted in 1978, Henry J. E. Reid, Sr. was one of the first scientists assigned to the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) Research Center in Hampton, VA. He invented an instrument known as the V-G Recorder, which is used to obtain data on aircraft velocities and inertial loads. Under his leadership, NACA won the first of four Collier trophies in 1929 for research leading to the development of the cowling for radial air-cooled engines.
